The papers pertain to a controversty between the Albemarle County Historical Society and Mrs. Vestal T. Milton, owner of Michie Tavern over her advertising claims that the tavern was built by Patrick Henry's father in 1735 and that it was the boyhood home of Patrick Henry. The collection contains a letter from Patrick Henry biographer Robert D. Meade, 1957 April 30; a statement by the Michie Tavern Committee; an announcement by Charles E. Moran, Jr., for an extraordinary meeting of Society members January 14, 1958, to consider the statement; and transcripts of the meeting.
